Harbor Overlook
Pocasset, MA
Overlooking Pocasset Harbor, this custom shingle style home feels right at home in its surroundings. The white cedar shingles mixed with the shed dormers, classical columns and cupola create a unique blend of eclectic shingle style architecture while still respecting the Cape Cod vernacular of the neighborhood.
One of the main focal points of the design was to give as many rooms a water view as possible. We oriented the house in a way to keep the primary program elements at the front of the house and the secondary program at the back of the lot further away from the harbor.
The form of the house exaggerates the roof lines of a traditional gable form. The roofs curve and splay out to create a lounge deck facing the harbor and a screen porch + dining deck in the back of the house. The roofs create a large palette to highlight the bedroom shed dormer on the second floor.
