Aucoot Craftsman
Marion, Massachusetts
Aucoot Craftsman is situated along the Marion coastline. The town has a storied history of shingle-style architecture, and the design challenge for this home was to embrace the shingle-style architecture while incorporating transitional design elements and details.
The exterior design is meant to embrace the local shingle-style vernacular by incorporating gable roof forms and shed dormers. We utilized the gable forms to expand the home’s footprint and create one floor living for our client. The farmer’s porch creates a welcoming overhang that can be used for lounging or entertaining.
The interior design incorporated an open-concept floor plan with all the necessary elements for single floor living. The transitional design elements can be seen in the kitchen cabinetry, the ceiling beam designs and multiple other spaces throughout the home.
